No one knows that idea of a crime-free society is a lie, naturally, more than Misa Amane. And though she's given up the mantle of the Second Kira, it doesn't take a genius to see that crime is on the rise now that there isn't anyone with a Death Note going around killing criminals. Her worst fears were confirmed, as unfortunate as it was, and Light is indeed dead and buried, having bled out on the stairway of some abandoned warehouse after a police confrontation. That said, no public reports made mention of a notebook of any kind, but nonetheless, without her Eyes, finding a user was going to be rather difficult.
Still, of course, that doesn't mean she's going to give up on her goals. Light may not be here anymore, but she's going to try and carry on his legacy the right way. She moved away from Shinjuku to somewhere a little more posh: she's got a little place in Omotesando, and though the attention from paparazzi and press alike is both flattering and unwanted, well, there's no denying she's an accomplished model and actress, and the hiatus only added to her popularity despite sources like Sakura TV claiming that she may have been more aware of Kira's alter ego than she lets on...thankfully, no one cares about Sakura TV, anyway. She has quite a few more connections with the press than she did before, so, keeping her finger on the pulse is easier than ever, in case there's anything...irregular happening; but most importantly, though, in the wake of all of this Kira talk, she can use her position to speak out against injustice and corrupt behavior, which is always a good thing!
Sometimes the attention gets just a bit overwhelming, though, and she needs to get away and spend some time with her friends and family; letting them all have the ability to cross worlds certainly does make that a bit easier! She can't help but think that she'd be doing far, far worse without them, after all; finding out Light really was dead wasn't something she took gently...still, if there's one thing that Misa is good at, it's putting on a brave face even when times are toughest, so she's been doing her best, even if she has been just a bit lonely by herself! A fanbase can only do so much, really...and as much as she likes to call all of her fans a family, it's not quite the same as losing someone you considered your whole world.
